1. Introduction
BETTER FILMS ("we", "us", "the studio") is a creative film production and technology studio based in Cape Town and Johannesburg, South Africa. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect personal information from clients, talent, partners and website visitors, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
2. Client Data
We collect the information you provide through project inquiries, bookings, contact forms and shoot contracts — including your name, company or label, email, phone, project details, budgets, shoot dates and locations. This information is used solely to quote, plan, contract and deliver production work, and to communicate with you about your project.
3. Talent Information
Talent applications, profiles, portfolios, rates, NDA and release forms are used to manage casting and bookings. Your portfolio images and public profile are shared with clients only in connection with casting for specific projects. Private details such as ID numbers, addresses and contact details are never published or sold, and are retained only while you are active in our talent network or as required by law.
4. AI-Generated Content
Our AI Lab processes the prompts, references and briefs you submit to generate scripts, concepts, visuals and other content. Your inputs are used only to produce your requested output. We do not sell client inputs or generated outputs to third parties, and AI-generated content is reviewed and approved by our team before it is published or delivered.
5. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to: deliver and manage productions; process contracts, bookings and payments; respond to inquiries; meet legal and contractual obligations; and — only with your consent — send you studio updates. We do not use your personal information for unrelated marketing without your permission.
6. Sharing & Third Parties
We share personal information only with the team members, crew, vendors and service providers needed to deliver your project (such as payment processors and hosting platforms), and only as far as necessary. We never sell personal information to third parties.
7. Data Security & Retention
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access and misuse. Records such as signed contracts and releases are retained for the periods required by law and for our own legal protection; other data is retained only as long as needed for its purpose.
